Question: did you answer the question or fully respond to the prompt or fulfill the purpose of the assignment?Is your thesis clear? Is your thesis one sentence in which parallelism is used to reveal your three thesis elements? Do you include a significance which relates to theme/purpose of the assignment? Organization: Does your intro paragraph include the three thesis elements? Does the body of your paper match your thesis? Is each body paragraph tied to your thesis? Examples: Are your examples relevant to your thesis? Have you introduced and incorporated all quotes (if used)? Is each quote/fact/example followed by your further commentary? Do you have at least three solid examples to support your thesis?   Check+    +3   Check     +2   Check -   +1
Grammar can only count against you. Grammar and mechanics are expected to be well-handled.  Grammar: Have you used only third person?  Did you maintain the use of literary present tense (if a literary paper)? Are all sentences complete, clear and concise? Are there distracting punctuation, word usage, or spelling errors?    Check        0   Check -       -1
Voice: Is there evidence of your own purposeful use of the elements of voice: diction, detail, tone, figurative language , and syntax?(when appropriate – not needed in research)    Check +     +1

Scale: 9=100, 8=95, 7=90, 6=85, 5=80, 4=75, 3=70, 2=65, 1=60Research: incidents of informal pronoun use have a severe penalty for each (per the PPT lesson that was also sent home via email and is on the blog).
